Pharmacy and software services company Rx Systems today announced that it has been awarded full roll-out approval by NHS Connecting for Health for the Electronic Prescription Service Release 2 module of its ProScript® community pharmacy system, used by over 3,000 pharmacies in the UK.
Rx Systems will now implement a rapid deployment of EPS R2 to its English customers, many of whom are independent pharmacies – enabling them to capitalize on the advantages of being an early adopter, ahead of the major high street pharmacy chains.
The ProScript accreditation comes just weeks after leading GP software provider EMIS – the majority shareholder in Rx Systems – was awarded full roll-out approval for the EPS R2 module of its EMIS Web system.
Rx Systems’ customers will benefit from the close links between the two companies by receiving early notification of EMIS GP surgeries that switch on EPS R2 – enabling a smooth and planned transition to fully electronic prescribing.

He added: "Unlike GP surgeries, there are no geographical limitations on pharmacies that wish to upgrade to EPS R2, so Rx customers anywhere in England can take advantage of this development."
